
John L. Romaker
Mr. Romaker obtained his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from California Western School of Law in 1988. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics/Political Science from University of Wisconsin – Madison. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1988. Mr. Romaker began serving the firm as “Of Counsel” in 2014. In addition to handling family law appeals, Mr. Romaker brings his vast experience in civil law to assist in the resolution or litigation of cross-over issues in complex family law matters without retaining additional outside counsel. On behalf of the firm, Mr. Romaker has assisted with complicated transactions involving wrongfully conveyed assets, asset purchase agreements, and commercial property sales.
Mr. Romaker has experience in a wide array of legal subjects. He has tried cases involving fraud, defamation, abuse of process, professional liability, breach of contract, insurance coverage/bad faith, maritime torts, conversion, intellectual property, unfair business practices, and other business torts. Mr. Romaker briefed and/or argued writs and appeals concerning insurance coverage, securities fraud, professional liability, litigation privilege, and civil rights. Mr. Romaker has litigated admiralty and maritime claims, real estate disputes, securities and commodities law matters, wage and hour claims and other employment law issues, and insurance coverage/bad faith. He has litigated international disputes in United States courts. Mr. Romaker has handled class actions and multiple cases coordinated through the Multi-District Litigation Panel.
Mr. Romaker enjoyed experiences in transactional practice. He has negotiated and wrote ground leases, shopping center leases, power purchase agreements, solar equipment leases, operation and maintenance agreements, purchase and sale of business entities, merger agreements, asset purchase agreements, software licenses (and other intellectual property licenses), charter agreements, renewable energy credit brokerage agreements and, general business agreements.
